We have reached the point of winter where I am SIC We have reached the point of winter where I am SICK of wearing coats. Spring, where are you?! 😩 Trying so hard to get dressed every day but how do y’all do it when it’s cold?! I’m literally sitting on my couch in this coat because it’s too cold to take it off 😂

I’ll be honest, I think the first half of 2021 is gonna be brutal but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, babes. We are almost there so stay safe and stay diligent.

I’ve been spending most of my IG time on my candle account, @brennancandleco, but I truly MISS Y’ALL. I formed so many great relationships over the years and I want to get back to that. So you’ll be seeing more of me, probably in a less curated way than you used to. I might lose some of y’all but I hope the ones I call friends will stick around because I really do miss you.

And lastly, if you ARE into more business-y content from me, follow @brennancandleco, there are some pretty awesome things happening over there if I do say so myself.

Our tomato plants finally started flourishing and Our tomato plants finally started flourishing and thennnnn there was snow in the forecast 🙃 Tomorrow we are supposed to get quite a lot and I’m very cranky about it. Hoping our plants survive but more importantly, I hope the snow puts out the wildfires that seem to be never ending. It’s been a brutal summer for many reasons, but it’s still pretty cool to look at this bowl and know we grew these tomatoes from seeds. Also there’s currently zucchini bread in the oven from our garden ☺️

I felt super comfortable and they executed my vision perfectly. 👽 I’ve been a diehard X Files fan since I was a kid (swipe for evidence and a photo of me and Gillian Anderson where I have never felt uglier lmao), so this means a ton.

Re: COVID-19. Truthfully I felt super nervous to get my tattoo and super nervous to post it here. I’ve still been doing my best to stay home but am also (like many of you, I think) struggling mentally. So where is the balance? Honestly I don’t know. I haven’t had a haircut (besides doing it myself), had my nails done, or sat down to eat except for once (and it was a place with no servers). I barely see anyone except my husband. Some days it’s fine and others it’s “how much more of this can I take?” So anyway. I took a risk, but @blackbirdinktattoo was taking everything very seriously. All were masked and sanitized (duh it’s a tattoo place) and I specifically chose a leg tattoo so Christa and I wouldn’t be breathing on each other. I long for the day when things are normal again. I long for the day when I can see my family again. But for now, I’ll try to safely find small pockets of joy and normalcy and ride those little waves until the next pocket of joy.

7 Minute Morning Makeup Routine

makeup-routineYou guys get to hear my beauty and fashion tips all the time, so I wanted to let someone else give her two cents. Mia is here giving her morning makeup routine and I think you’re really going to love it! I know sometimes I’m a little too “glam” for people’s tastes so this one might tickle your fancy. This morning makeup routine is perfect because it’s quick and simple. I tried it myself and snapped a quick selfie so you can see how it looks! Not too shabby for less than ten minutes, right?

morning-makeup-routine

If you’re rushing out to work in the morning, you need your makeup routine to be fast and effective. Personally, I love sleeping late, so I’ve really got the hang of it. Here’s my easy six-step routine, for a fresh look with a healthy glow.

1. Thorough cleansing

Clean your face with your usual cleansing product: gel, foam, or face wash. Avoid bar soaps because they tend to dry out your skin. Finish up the cleansing process with a toner since it ensures all the impurities are removed. At least once a week, add scrubbing to this first step in order to get rid of dead skin cells: they’re the main reason your skin looks dull and ashy since they don’t reflect light. Apply moisturizing cream and make sure it matches your skin type.

2. Setting the base

I love using a primer because it makes my makeup last longer, look more polished and on the point. I then apply a concealer to cover dark circles and discolorations. Then I use liquid foundation or a tinted moisturizer, depending on the level of coverage I need. If you have oily skin, you can also add powder foundation in order to avoid excessive shine. Invest in quality formulas enriched with natural ingredients that contain SPF and anti-age properties.

3. Applying highlighter

I really love the strobing technique because it gives me a fresh and dewy look with minimum effort: a dash of highlighter on the cheekbones, eyelids, and above eyebrows – and you’re done! Apply a white pencil into your inner waterline to make your eyes look bigger and wide awake. Use a shadow brush to swirl it over your lower lid and apply a bit of it to the inner corner of your eyes. Curl your lashes and put your mascara on.

4. Add a dash of blush

Just a bit of blush to enhance your cheekbones will ensure that attractive healthy glow you get after exercising. You can even order makeup online and find a subtle shade that matches your skin tone. Use an angled blush brush and avoid applying too much of the product. It’s morning, so aim for the natural look. If you accidentally apply too much of it, use a blending sponge and roll it across your cheeks.

5. Eyebrows on point

I’m not a big fan of unnatural precise eyebrows that are a part of the contouring trend. I prefer the natural look: using a spoolie brush, I comb through my brows and ensure there’s no powder left on them. Then I use an eyebrow pencil that matches my brow color or is just a bit darker. Using short strokes in the direction of growth of my hair, I gently fill the eyebrows, giving them more definition.

6. Pucker lips

My last step includes applying lipstick. Since we’re talking about day makeup, I prefer using a nude shade that will enhance my lips, but keep them natural. From beige and opaque nudes to soft pinks – the choice is yours. My favorite shade is the brown-nude one: it’s subtle but it makes me look rejuvenated. To make your lips look bigger and add a bit more definition, you can use a pencil in the same shade and apply it on the outer lip line. Add a bit of highlighter above your cupid’s bow and you’ll be left with incredibly kissable lips!

This routine might sound complex, but it’s actually pretty easy: it will take only around 7 minutes of your time. For a natural look everyone is guaranteed to compliment you for, it all comes down to strategically pointing out your assets with minimum makeup.

Dennis and Sweet Dee are here to help ward off the Dennis and Sweet Dee are here to help ward off the Sunday scaries 🐾 In case you missed it in my stories, these are our newest fosters! (We just decided on names today - I think having to name two slowed us down 🤣) Usually we only have pups for three nights but we had to keep these little pals for an extra week before they’re ready to be adopted.

Also I PROMISE I am going to record a video/write a post about fostering this week so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Annnnd last but not least if you’re in the Denver area and looking for a puppy, message me if you want more info on either of these little ones! 🥰
