Sometimes you find a piece of clothing that you love so much you know you’ll never take it off. And sometimes it’s the comfiest thing ever. And sometimes it’s one of those things that goes with anything. AND SOMETIMES it’s purchased from a resale shop so you get an amazing deal on it (and you traded in clothes for it so you really paid nothing out of pocket).
Okay yeah, I’m talking about this jumpsuit lol.
I picked it up last weekend when I was at Crossroads in Boulder! You might have seen my IG stories about the trip, but if you missed it they are still available in my highlights! This jumpsuit was brand new with tags, originally $95 but I purchased it for $24! One of my style goals for 2018 is to buy secondhand when possible, which is why I’m even more excited about my Crossroads haul!
I won’t get into my love for selling clothes and buying secondhand here, but I do have a blog post you can check out if you’re interested in the topic!
For this particular look, I wanted to go casual. I’m a big fan of anything that’s an “elevated” version of something basic. Y’all know how much I love leveling up jeans and a tshirt, and this is basically the same idea. On it’s own, this jumpsuit kind of looks and feels like pajamas….nothing wrong with that, but it’s the truth.
When I’m trying to “level up” a basic look, I always start with the shoes. Usually I would opt for a bootie but I decided to switch it up this time and grab a sneaker. But the trick is…it’s a cute sneaker! These are actually leather sneakers (from Skechers!) and they’re the perfect balance of cute and chic. Booties would also work too 🙂 Just don’t wear your dirty old tennis shoes – we’re going for comfort leveled up.
Now y’all KNOW I have to add a third piece! What’s a third piece you ask? It’s what completes your look. Top. Bottom. Third piece. I go into more detail in this post, but here my third piece is a denim jacket. It’s something most people have in their closet (and if you don’t, thrift one! You can find them everywhere.)
For me, the look needed just a little something more….that’s when I knew my Dillon Joy Bowie headwrap would “tie it all together!” I wasn’t having the best hair day and I love love love these wraps because it takes NOTHING to throw them on! No tying, no fuss, you literally just throw it on like a beanie and suddenly you look chic and put together instead of like you haven’t washed your hair in a week. I mean….what?
Tabi of Dillon Joy was kind enough to send over some headwraps to me AND she was such a doll and included a coupon code for you guys! Use the code EDGY20 to save 20% off your order! Pro tip – the velvet ones are REAL cute but they are WARM. If you live in the South or you’re hot-natured, I would recommend a cotton headwrap instead. Or just wear the velvet for short periods of time during the summer. Or be smart and get both!

I was going to ask where you got the headwrap, so I’m glad you posted! I’m terrified of velvet, though, so that won’t be my fabric of choice. 😉
Okay I have to ask….why are you terrified of velvet?! A friend of mine has a cotton wrap from her and I tried it on this past week, it’s suuuuuuper comfy. I definitely have to get one for summer!
