I’ve been spending most of my IG time on my candle account, @brennancandleco, but I truly MISS Y’ALL. I formed so many great relationships over the years and I want to get back to that. So you’ll be seeing more of me, probably in a less curated way than you used to. I might lose some of y’all but I hope the ones I call friends will stick around because I really do miss you.

And lastly, if you ARE into more business-y content from me, follow @brennancandleco, there are some pretty awesome things happening over there if I do say so myself.

Hoping our plants survive but more importantly, I hope the snow puts out the wildfires that seem to be never ending. It’s been a brutal summer for many reasons, but it’s still pretty cool to look at this bowl and know we grew these tomatoes from seeds. Also there’s currently zucchini bread in the oven from our garden ☺️

Re: COVID-19. Truthfully I felt super nervous to get my tattoo and super nervous to post it here. I’ve still been doing my best to stay home but am also (like many of you, I think) struggling mentally. So where is the balance? Honestly I don’t know. I haven’t had a haircut (besides doing it myself), had my nails done, or sat down to eat except for once (and it was a place with no servers). I barely see anyone except my husband. Some days it’s fine and others it’s “how much more of this can I take?” So anyway. I took a risk, but @blackbirdinktattoo was taking everything very seriously. All were masked and sanitized (duh it’s a tattoo place) and I specifically chose a leg tattoo so Christa and I wouldn’t be breathing on each other. I long for the day when things are normal again. I long for the day when I can see my family again. But for now, I’ll try to safely find small pockets of joy and normalcy and ride those little waves until the next pocket of joy.

Let me preface this by saying…I love blogging. I’m proud of what I do and I’m soooo thankful for you guys and the motivation you give me to keep on going. But I’ll be honest, this time of year I get a little weary. The COUNTLESS gift guides, the 20 “swipe up” Instagram stories with affiliate links (really just ALL the affiliate links), sometimes it is just….a lot. And I’m sure some of you guys reading feel the same way. I know we’ve all got to get our coins, but it feels like overkill at times. This holiday season, I’m trying to promote less, and focus on brands I care about that make amazing products, so today I’m SO dang excited to introduce you to Mon Amie.

Mon Amie literally means “my friend” – this brand is composed of (and inspired by) passionate people who care to make an impact in the world. Each watch supports a great cause and empowers people to be part of the change they wish to see in the world.

When Mon Amie reached out to the ladies of Diversity Chic, it felt like a match made in heaven. Since I live in Denver now, we aren’t able to put out monthly posts, but DC definitely isn’t dead y’all! We’ve always tried to infuse things we are passionate about into Diversity Chic posts, so a Giving Tuesday post revolving around a brand that gives back was a natural fit. Mon Amie watches are beautiful, but they also have a more important mission.

Each Mon Amie watch has a “theme” and gives back, based on the watch theme. It was SO hard for me to choose, but I eventually landed on the Food watch. As someone who previously had reduced (and sometimes free) lunches at school, the idea of a kid going hungry just because of their circumstances absolutely breaks my heart. With each watch purchased, Mon Amie donates a 2 month’s supply of school lunches for a child. This is such an amazing gift idea for just about anyone – the simplicity of the watches means they will go with pretty much ANYONE’S personal style.

Don’t believe me? Check out the posts from the other Diversity Chic babes to see for yourself!

Oh and a bonus – each watch comes with a SUPER cute pin that matches the theme of the watch! I plan on gifting my pin to my mom – she is the type of person who ALWAYS loves sharing food with others (I get it from her). I know helping fight hunger and bringing comfort to others with food is something that is near and dear to her heart.

When we got together to take photos for this post, we also decided to gather up some clothing and canned goods to donate to Metrocrest. It was such a fun way to give as a group, and it’s something almost anyone can do this holiday season. Even if you don’t have a lot of spare cash, you probably have a few extra clothes in your closet you could pass along to someone in need. I would encourage you to look for coats and sweaters, especially if you’re in a place with colder climate. There are lots of people out there who could really use it. And in the spirit of the Food watch, check those cabinets for some non-perishables to donate. You can always just pick up a few things on your next grocery store run, even $5 goes a long way!

I am definitely feeling the same way with the Instagram stories with 400 affiliate links. I don’t care about your favorite sweater in 40 different colors. It’s so exhausting. I love that we all share the meaning and purpose of selecting brands that really mean a lot to us.

Love you and can’t wait to see you soon!

Love the watch/cause you chose. No child should ever have to worry about not having three healthy meals a day. So important to keep things in perspective when we’re surrounded by the superficial things you mentioned regarding affiliate links, etc.

Complementary 🧡💙 If you have hooded lids and Complementary 🧡💙 If you have hooded lids and/or you’re scared about mixing colors, this is such an easy way to do it, y’all! Monochromatic on top (I incorporated an orange shimmer but you could keep it super simple and just blend out one shadow), and then a different color on bottom. I was worried the blue would look too heavy on me since my eyes are a bit downturned but I think it turned out just fine!

I’m using a @shopaltergo palette again here, this one is a dupe for the Natasha Denona Metropolis palette ($129). The Alter Ego palette is a whopping $22….and so far it’s a GEM. I don’t have ND so I can’t compare them directly but I didn’t have any issues with these shadows at all.
