“STFU Susan.” A new feminist rally cry (hear me out).
In case you missed it, Susan Sarandon gave an interview at TIFF and said the most “significant” thing Trump has done is that he has inspired women to run for office. “You never saw that population running.”

I get what she’s saying, I really do. But to take away the significance of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, all that she endured, and ALL the women who have come before….and to hand that to Trump…..OF ALL PEOPLE?! I just cannot.
Thankfully Debra Messing did the work for me….here’s what she had to say.
I knew right away I haaaaaad to make a shirt. It was just too good. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t like pitting women against one another, but enough is enough. STFU Susan Sarandon. It’s one thing to pit women against one another, but it’s another to call out women when they do something wrong.
Feminism doesn’t mean supporting all women who do anything. Women can uphold the patriarchy. (Easy examples…..Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Kellyanne Conway, Ivanka Trump, etc etc.) We all know it was mostly white women who got Trump elected (52% of white women voted for him) and that’s a problem, y’all.
It’s time to hold our own accountable. It’s time for some sisterhood in the form of tough love. It’s time to start calling out women who say things like “women are dramatic, I just don’t get along with women,” who say HRC was “a bitch,” WHO VOTED FOR TRUMP. It’s time to come for the white women who are liberals but still make off-hand racist comments. It’s time to start saying STFU Susan.
And while we’re at it, here’s another relevant gem from Twitter….
